
Uncle George Duross has passed away. George was an extremely caring and loving husband, good friend, and all around good guy! He will be great missed!

George Duross Jr., also known as "Uncle George" age 78, of Johnstown, NY, passed away on January 16, 2025, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Born in Gloversville, NY, on December 18, 1946, he was the son of the late George and Eve (Marotta) Duross.
A graduate of Johnstown High School, class of 1965, George excelled as an outstanding high jump athlete on the track team. His academic journey continued at Plattsburgh State College, where he furthered his education. His professional life was marked by a successful career spanning over five decades as a dedicated salesperson. George was not only a key member of Duross Brothers Appliances, but also a creative entrepreneur, founding Partners Leather AKA Uncle George & Leather in 1984. A passionate collector, he found joy in acquiring coins and baseball and football cards. His infectious sense of humor was legendary; George never missed an opportunity to share a laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet Duross; sons, George Duross III, Gabriel Duross; stepchildren, Danny Lynaugh, Patricia Conover, Edward Lynaugh, Melissa Battistini; as well as many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his brother, Daniel C. Duross and stepdaughter Dorothy Burak.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
